On March 21, 2025, the Department of Botany at Eternal University celebrated World Forest Day, focusing on the vital theme:
“Forests and Their Role in Ensuring Food Security.”
The event highlighted how forests are indispensable for sustaining life, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring the ecological balance essential for food and water security.

Highlights of the Event: Learning from Nature

Faculty, students, and guests came together to participate in a day filled with awareness, reflection, and action for forest conservation.

Key Moments from the Celebration

  • Expert Lectures & Interactive Discussions: Experts shared valuable insights on how forests support biodiversity, aid agriculture, conserve water, and regulate the climate—ultimately ensuring food security for generations to come.
  • Exploring Forest Ecosystems: Participants discussed how forests contribute to soil fertility, water conservation, and the stability of local and global climates.
  • Recreation of the Chipko Movement: In a symbolic and impactful performance, students reenacted the historic Chipko Movement, reminding everyone of the power of collective action in protecting our natural resources.
