Every bite we take carries a story — of where it comes from, how it’s made, and whether it’s safe. To raise awareness about food safety and public health, Eternal University, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), organized an insightful Online Expert Lecture on “India’s Food Safety Framework.”
Held on October 16, 2025, in observance of World Food Day, the session aimed to inspire students and faculty to think critically about the safety, sustainability, and standards of the food they consume.
Learning from an FSSAI Expert
The lecture featured Dr. Sunil Bishnoi, Technical Officer at FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
With years of expertise in food regulation and quality assurance, Dr. Bishnoi shed light on India’s food safety laws, licensing system, and the scientific frameworks that ensure the food on our tables is both safe and nutritious.
He also discussed the role of innovation and technology in tackling challenges such as contamination, adulteration, and sustainability in food production and supply.
Linking Food Safety with Public Health
The event emphasized how food safety is directly linked to national health, sustainable agriculture, and economic growth.
Students gained insights into how FSSAI’s policies and standards contribute to reducing food-borne illnesses, improving consumer trust, and ensuring equitable access to safe and quality food.
A Step Toward a Healthier and Safer India
This World Food Day event wasn’t just about awareness — it was a call to action.
Dr. Bishnoi encouraged students to see themselves as future innovators and advocates who can contribute to India’s food safety ecosystem through research, entrepreneurship, and ethical practices.
The program was coordinated by Er. Rajesh Kumar, Dr. Tajendra Pal Singh, Dr. Divya Chauhan, Dr. Naseer Ahmed, and Dr. Raashid Ahmad, whose joint efforts ensured a successful and informative session.
Be Informed. Be Inspired. Be the Change.
Through this initiative, Eternal University reaffirmed its commitment to fostering awareness, innovation, and social responsibility. By bringing together experts, educators, and students, the university continues to promote the global message of “Safe Food, Healthy Future.”
