In a remarkable display of community spirit and leadership, B.Ed. students of Akal College of Education, Eternal University, took the initiative to transform the surroundings of Kheri villages under the Swachh Sirmaur: Community Cleanliness Drive held on 11th October 2025.
The event was a proud part of Special Campaign 5.0 – Swachhata Pakhwada 2025, supported by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Ministry of Education, and CIET, aiming to promote a cleaner, greener, and healthier India.
From Littered Paths to Pristine Streets
With brooms in hand and determination in their hearts, more than 50 enthusiastic students worked tirelessly to clean littered riverbanks, ensure proper solid waste management, and raise awareness among local residents about sanitation and hygiene.
Their efforts didn’t just make the streets shine — they inspired behavioral change within the local community. By teaching residents about cleanliness and waste segregation, the students turned their learning into meaningful social action.
Empowering Through Education and Action
The Swachh Sirmaur Drive reflected the true spirit of experiential learning, where students apply classroom lessons to real-world challenges.
Through active participation, they strengthened their teamwork, leadership, and environmental responsibility — embodying the values of Eternal University’s vision to create socially responsible educators.
“Cleanliness is not just a habit; it’s a mindset that shapes a healthier society,” shared one of the student participants, emphasizing how education can become a powerful tool for sustainable change.
Collective Effort, Lasting Impact
The success of this initiative was made possible by the collaboration between Eternal University, the local Kheri community, and the support of national educational bodies.
A heartfelt appreciation goes out to the students, faculty mentors, and supporting officials , including NCTE_Official, Ministry of Education, and CIET, for guiding and encouraging this impactful mission.
Together, they turned the Swachh Sirmaur Drive into a movement that echoes the vision of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan – one village, one effort, one step closer to a cleaner India.
