Planet vs. Plastic – Earth Day 2024 Celebration at Eternal University

Eternal University celebrated World Earth Day 2024 with a strong commitment to environmental preservation. This year’s global theme, “Planet vs. Plastic,” inspired students and faculty to raise awareness and take concrete steps towards reducing plastic pollution and protecting nature.

Awareness Rally – Spreading the Message Beyond the Campus

The day began with an awareness rally inaugurated by Honourable Vice Chancellor Dr. Jaswinder Singh and Dean Academic Dr. Tarlok Singh Benipal.
Students from various departments, along with NSS volunteers, walked across the campus holding banners and placards with slogans advocating environmental protection and a plastic-free future. The rally aimed to spread the Earth Day message beyond the university walls.

Plantation Drive – Growing a Sustainable Tomorrow

In line with the university’s commitment to biodiversity, a plantation drive was held at the Botanical Garden.
Students, staff, and faculty came together to plant native trees and shrubs, contributing to greener spaces and supporting ecosystem restoration. This initiative not only beautified the campus but also promoted carbon sequestration and climate resilience.

Cleanliness Drive – Plastic-Free Campus Initiative

Students actively participated in a plastic-free cleanliness drive, reinforcing the importance of waste management and the harmful impact of plastic on the environment. This hands-on activity was a real-world application of the Earth Day pledge — “Planet vs. Plastic.”

The event featured inspiring lectures by:

  • Honourable Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Amrik Singh Ahluwalia
  • Dr. Rakesh Joshi (Environmental Expert)

They addressed critical topics like:

  • Eco-friendly alternatives to plastic

These sessions equipped students with practical knowledge to adopt green habits and become responsible earth citizens.
