Hands-On SPSS Workshop Empowers Researchers at Eternal University

Skill-Building Workshop at ACECM, Eternal University

On 11th February 2023, the Akal College of Economics, Commerce and Management (ACECM) at Eternal University, Baru Sahib, organized a one-day Training-cum-Workshop on “Application of SPSS Software in Social Sciences Research” for Master’s and Ph.D. students. The event aimed to strengthen the statistical and analytical skills of budding researchers in the field of social sciences.

Inauguration and Expert Introduction

The session began at 11:30 AM with an introductory note by Dr. S.K. Chauhan, Dean of ACECM. He welcomed the participants and introduced the resource person, Er. Rajeev Thakur, Assistant Professor at the Akal College of Engineering and Technology. Dr. Chauhan also emphasized the growing significance of quantitative research tools like SPSS in social sciences.

Key Learning – Practical Insights into SPSS

The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from around 30 students and faculty members. Er. Rajeev Thakur initiated the session by explaining the basics of SPSS, including its interface, features, and relevance in academic research.

He then guided participants through:

• Data entry methods in SPSS
• Understanding technical terminologies
• Performing statistical tests such as Central Tendency, Chi-Square, and T-test
• The live demonstrations and real-time analysis enabled students to gain hands-on experience with the software.

Participants shared positive feedback, calling the workshop a valuable learning experience that enhanced their understanding of statistical applications in research.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Amit Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Management Department. He appreciated the efforts of the speaker, faculty, and organizing team for making the event a success.
